Different Meditation Types
There are pretty much an infinite amount of ways that you can use meditation for personal growth because the power of your mind and meditation is only limited by our imaginations. You can use meditation to start your day off on a good note by taking 20 minutes to envision the day that you wish to have for yourself. You can feel the energy you will have throughout your day and the things you will accomplish on a spiritual level just like with manifestation. The power of FEELING and BELIEVING in the things you want for yourself is beyond human comprehension and if FAITH is mixed with PERSISTENCE in this regard it is incredible what a change it can have in your life. So, as I said in the last section this is my favorite version of meditation because it is focused on both staying in the moment while also preparing for the future.
Meditation can also be used to heal severe trauma that you have had in the past. If you are someone like me who has dealt with hard times and family circumstances it is important to deal with these issues that may be causing you stress, anxiety, or depression. If I see myself thinking too much on past events that have hurt me I may take 20-30 minutes before bed to meditate on these emotions and the deep rooted reasons for them. It is important to understand that no emotion or feeling is meaningless, there is a reason for all of it even if it is hard to see on the surface. Sometimes through meditation I learn that it is my insecurities that are keeping me from getting past certain hardships or it may be fear of loss or other FEARS that are causing me to make myself suffer in my mind. These are important things to pinpoint and understand so that we can progress as human beings. Trust me, it can be hard to face these emotions head on at first but in the end it is certainly worth it.
Try laying down, closing your eyes, and thinking about events that have caused you long term pain. Once that emotion is brought up, try asking yourself why until you can’t anymore. This will always give me the underlying emotion or reason for my pain. Once you have come to understand the why turn it to a positive and repeat it in your meditation! For example, my mother abandoned me when I was younger and left me on the streets. What does this make me feel? Angry, ok why does it make you angry? Because I feel she doesn’t love me. Ok, Why does that make you feel angry? Because I feel I am not able to be loved. Ok but I can be loved. I am loved, and then I would focus on that phrase for my meditation. This is just an example but I hope it can help you as well. Positive affirmations are very important because the way we think determines the way we act and the way we act determines the outcome of our lives.
The next type of meditation that I like to use is in fact affirmation based. In these meditations I am replacing negative thoughts about myself or my future with the positive version of these thoughts and focusing my mind on feeling the positive emotions that come with these thoughts. It is necessary to FEEL your affirmations as if they are already true and have that feeling of FAITH in them as if you know that it is in fact coming into your life. If you are using meditation for affirmations and you are fearful or doubtful of your thinking that is okay but just know that you will need to practice this and work on these affirmations until you do BELIEVE them. Only then will you start to see the magic happening in your life. It can take time but with practice it can do beautiful things for your life.
