Forcing Yourself to Work

I know that in this day in age with all the screens and distractions around us it can be easy to shy away from our more difficult tasks. It has not always been easy for myself either but there are plenty of tips that have helped me accomplish great things which I am sure can help you as well.

When you start to feel that feeling of FEAR when thinking about the tasks you need to accomplish for a day it is important to simply ignore those feelings and DO IT ANYWAY. I know how easy it can be to block out those alerts in our mind telling us to get things done and replace it with Instagram or Netflix. However, that is when it is necessary to tell ourselves I can always watch Netflix later once I am done with the things I need to. You must make this a habit to become productive. Once you start crossing off your tasks each day and getting things done it will get much easier with time.

When I find myself especially distracted with screens and other things while needing to be productive, one of the best ideas I use is out of sight out of mind and in sight ready for flight! It may sound silly, but it is a very effective technique for accomplishing tasks and ultimately goals. One thing I like to do when I find myself avoiding work, is to start by putting the things I need to work in front of me and putting my distractions in another room. For example today I did not really feel like typing up this information but instead of letting that be the end of it, I put my computer on my bed and turned it on and then I put my phone and remote in my basement. I have now written 6 pages of content when at first, I was struggling to even start. When all you have in front of you is the task at hand, it tends to get done most of the time.
