Healthy Eating on a Budget
I know it can be expensive to eat healthy especially when trying to gain weight and eat more so I would love to go over some ways you can eat healthy and achieve your weight goals on a budget. The first thing to keep in mind is that almost any meal that has been listed above is going to be cheaper and healthier than eating out. If that is a habit that you have like I did then know that you will be saving money right away just by cutting out restaurant food.
When it comes to eating protein there are many ways to get it cheap. My favorite cheap way to get protein is with canned tuna. You can get packs of canned tuna for less than a dollar a can and it provides 20 grams of protein per can. Also, pumpkin seeds can be bought in bulk on Amazon and are another cheap way to get good protein with low fat. Oats, peanut butter and cottage cheese are also great sources of protein that are very cheap.
As for carbs there are plenty of ways to stock up on carbs and calories for cheap. My favorite cheap sources of complex carbs are sweet potatoes, whole grain pasta, brown rice and whole wheat bread. Honestly most carbs are pretty cheap but these are my favorite and the most healthy budget options for me.
There are plenty of other budget friendly healthy food options out there and these are only a few examples. Just remember that price should not be an excuse to get in shape. A meal at McDonalds is double the cost nowadays as any of the meals we listed in our meal plans. I know what it is like to eat on a strict budget and I promise it can be done. You don’t have to buy the most expensive organic stuff to get healthy and achieve your goals. Just make sure you are keeping track of the calories and food components we talked about.
