Industries to Transition to

Once you have gotten an entry level job and learned the basics of sales there are so many industries to move up to from there. You can go from making $1,000 or so a week from an entry level sales job to making over $100,000 a year very quickly if you work hard. This subsection will go over some of the best paying industries in sales that can pay substantial amounts of money.

A. Solar. Residential solar is one of the best industries you can jump into in sales with no college degree and even no sales experience in many cases. The only reason I would not typically recommend starting in solar sales is because it is usually all commission based and you don't want to jump into one of the best industries just to give up because you don't have time to learn while making no income. Solar is what made me the money to be able to start my own brands and businesses. It has opened so many doors to me in life from where I used to be. New Jersey and California are typically the best places for solar because the money these states pay to subsidize the panels is very high therefore you can make a lot more money. My average deal in solar these days makes me about $7,000 and that is with me giving my customers solid deals. I know people who don't particularly care about the customers making $20,000 per deal on average. I used to average 3 deals per week in this industry so you can do the math on what the potential is. I make hundreds of thousands a year in this industry still working very little. This job can give you the freedom you may be looking for as well because typically you are a 1099 employee and are not forced to work. You can make your own schedule and work on your own time. However, I would highly recommend working your butt off when first entering the industry so that you can master the process. That is what I did and I am very happy I did.

The biggest tips I would give you for this industry and most door to door industries is gravitate towards the people who are doing the best. Show them that you want to learn and that you will do anything you need to be successful in the industry. Stay away from the people who like to complain and make excuses, that is a disease that you never want to catch. When choosing companies, I would recommend starting somewhere that is a big company with great training and once you have the basics down quickly move to a smaller company with less training and higher pay. The best deals you can get in solar are usually called red line deals. They give you a minimum price you must sell at but everything above that price is yours to keep. Lastly, when you are working, go where other people don't. That little neighborhood off a dirt road that no one ever knocks in can make you a fortune. The cookie cutter neighborhoods in the popular areas have typically been talked to a ton of times. Don't be afraid of any area but the ones who make the most money typically go where others don't.

B. Mortgages. Mortgages are another great way to make 6 figures in sales especially if you don't want to be knocking on doors for a living. This is another industry where you may want to start off in a lower paying position with a large company that will train you well. Once you learn the industry and prove yourself you can quickly move up to other companies and positions that pay more and provide solid leads. Once you have somewhat of a track record you can even find jobs in this industry where you can work from home and simply answer calls that come in, still making well over $100,000 a year.

C. Roofing and Remodeling. Home remodeling is another form of sales that can pay big money. I will say this is typically harder to make good money in than solar for instance but you can certainly make over 6 figures if you work hard and if this is an industry that interests you. Typically these jobs will also be door to door and sometimes phone sales. You will usually start off as a simple lead generator that does not close deals if you are just starting off in sales. For this reason that is why I recommend starting in another industry and gaining a bit of a track record first. This way you can jump right into closing deals and making big money. My biggest tip for this industry is to only knock on doors that NEED a roof or siding or whatever. Do not waste your time talking to people that already have perfect looking roofs even if they tell you to. The good thing about this is you really don't have to walk around all day. You can simply just pull up in your car to each house you find that needs a roof and hop out and knock it.
