Losing Weight with Cardio
Think of cardio in general as a supplement to diet. On top of the deficit you are creating when trying to lose weight with your diet, cardio will add another layer of deficit to your caloric intake. If you burn 2,000 calories each day naturally without exercise and are taking in only 1,600, then you are at a deficit of 400 calories. That’s not bad but it will take a while to see weight loss with this type of routine. If you simply add cardio to your routine you may be able to burn an extra 400 calories a day bringing your total deficit to 800 calories. This is cutting your weight loss goal timeline in half with just one added habit to your day!
