When trying to stop your negative habits there will be a lot of what I like to call triggers that you may run into in your day-to-day life. A trigger is a person, place or thing that gives you the urge to go back to your negative habits. Even if you can’t think of any right now, I promise there will be something you run into that will make you crave your old habit.
It is important to start creating a new routine that can keep you away from those negative actions that you are trying to avoid. If there is a particular place where you act out your addictions then try to avoid it at all costs. If you tend to act on your addiction with certain people, it may be hard but you have to begin to distance yourself from that crowd. Try joining a group, or church, or something that will put you in touch with new positive people that share similar goals and lifestyles that you wish to obtain. If we don’t change our environments, then it is very hard to change our actions. Believe me, I know how hard this part can be, but I know that you can do it and after a few months of your new life I know that you will find yourself so much happier because of it.
