Practicing Focus
If we wish to get better in any aspect of our lives, then we must practice in order to improve. Doing things like reading or writing for extended periods of time without distraction will improve your focus if you stick to it. I recommend setting a habit in your calendar for reading and writing every day with a timer that you can increase overtime. Start with something easy like 30 minutes and force yourself to focus until the timer goes off. If you must, turn your phone off and put it in the other room as well as your remote or any other distractions that usually grab your attention. It is important to distance yourself from the negative habits you have and make positive ones more accessible and easier to do.
If you practice this every day while increasing your time each week, I promise you will see an improvement in your focus and you will find completing tasks much easier. If you don’t particularly enjoy reading or writing, try using a chess app and playing 4 or 5 games a night. Whatever it takes to keep you occupied on a task that works your brain for an extended period is worth doing. I promise you will thank yourself for it after some time and once you can focus for over an hour you can begin adding even more productive long-term tasks to your schedule until your whole day is filled with positive habits.
