Understanding Your Muscles
In order to start growing your muscles you must first understand the basics of how your muscles work. Your body by default is going to use the nutrients you take in to help towards whatever parts of the body you use the most. If you are failing to work your muscles to the point of tearing, then your body will not use your foods to build those muscles back up simply because it is not needed and can be used elsewhere for energy and brain function.
In order to start building muscle you must work your muscle groups until they reach a point we call hypertrophy. Hypertrophy is reached when your muscles are torn down, typically when you achieve the point of failure in your workout. More simply put, if you work a muscle until you physically cannot work it anymore it will be built back stronger because your body will use the proteins you take in to be ready for the next time you do it again. You can not grow anything that you don’t use. It is as simple as that. Make sure that when you are working your muscles you are getting to the point of failure. That is the most important thing to remember when trying to build muscle mass.
